What Can You Tell Me About Hampshire?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Much of this county still remains as it has for centuries and is on the south coast of England.  The county town is Winchester and as well as many popular seaside attractions it also contains the New Forest National Park in the south.

The county has a long history and tradition of a naval county having two of the UK's largest ports, Portsmouth and Southampton on its coastline.  Portsmouth is a major Royal Navy base and Southampton handles commercial shipping as well as being home to the luxury cruise liners.

Mostly agricultural and dairy farming in the past but now a major tourist destination for all the attractions located there.  Within the New Forest the attraction of wild horses and donkeys at every turn is a major tourist pull.

The small port of Lymington on the edge of the New Forest still has a daily ferry service to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
