Why Is Stock Exchange Needed?

Answer Question

How else would public companies market their stock without being directly involved with the process? The Stock Exchange is a medium of commerce that is independent of the companies who's stock is being traded. It sets the price for a companies stock and also is a bell weather of the companies going-concern and credit-worthiness as well as an independent source of stability rating of a companies overall status.

The stock exchange, is what helps run the financial sector of our country.  Why do you think, the towers were hit in Manhattan, they were trying to destroy our leading financial district.  The stocks are what keeps our country going, there are major shareholders here and abroad that invest in properties in our country.
