How Do I Cite A Reference In An Article?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

This depends upon what citation style you are using; the American Psychological Association style (APA), the Chicago Manual of Style, the Modern Language Association style, the Associated Press style, the Harvard style, or the Turabian style. In general, when you cite a reference to an article in an academic paper, you need to give the author's name, the title of the article, the periodical (magazine or journal) where the article was published, the page numbers of the articles, and the date and volume number of the magazine or journal.

Because there are so many different citation styles, as mentioned above, there is no one, single way to cite an article. You must use the citation style that your instructor or your editor tells you to use. If you are actually writing an article and wish to include a reference section, the editor will tell you which style the periodical uses, and you must follow that style when you do your reference section. If you are citing a source within the body of an article it will look like this: In his classic work on this subject, Jones stated that "......," (Jones, 2001). If you are citing an article or writing an article, you MUST match all text body references in the reference section at the end of your paper.
