What Role Has The Polarity Of A Solvent On Its Boiling Point?

Dichlormethane is a highly polar solvent and its boiling point is around 40 whereas n-hexane a nonpolar solvent has a boiling point around 80.

There are two main factors which can contribute in determining the booing point:
    1. The molecular size of the molecule and the larger will be molecules the higher boiling point

    2. The intermolecular forces acting upon the molecules. The stronger the intermolecular forces the higher will be the boiling point.
In the above case, n-hexane must be having above of the factors. Along with the polarity the structure of the molecules is also very important.
