    South Korea formally known as the Republic of Korea, basically is an East Asian nation located on the southern section of the Korean Peninsula.
    Towards the north, it is bounded with North Korea with whom it was united till the year 1945. It also shares its borders with the Yellow Sea towards the west, with China towards the southeast and along the Korean Strait with Japan.

    Nearly one fourth of South Korea's total population resides close to its capital Seoul. The South Korean economy has grown on a large scale post the 1950s and is currently the 11th biggest economy in the world.

    As of the year 2007, the total population of this country was estimated to be 49,024,737, having an average population density of 480 per square kilometer.
