Well all you need to do is solve for x. To do that you would divide both sides of the equation by three which would give you x+2=4. Then you would subtract two from both sides to get x=2. To check this answer, you would put your answer back into the equation, giving you 3 (2+2)=12.
When solving for x in an equation like that, you would follow the order of operations backwards. Order of operations is: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction. This is commonly abbreviated as PEMDAS, so order of operations backward would be SADMEP.

You need to solve for x all you have to do is think what times 3=12?? Which is obliviously 4 so the answer is x=2
