Basic unit of living things is known as cell. In fact cell is the structural and functional unit of all of the living things either plants or animals. Cell is a very very small unit which can vary in size depending upon the organisms like animal cell is bigger than the bacterial cells. There are various organisms who do not have cells because they are non-cellular and come in very primitive group of living organisms like viruses. On the other hand, all of the living things have cells. There are two types of cells which are known as prokaryotic and eukaryote cells. Bacteria has prokaryotic cells while plants and animals have eukaryotic cells.

The basic unit of structure and functional unit of living organisms is known as cell. Cells can be distinguished on the basis of their own structures and functions. On the basis of similarities between the cells, tissues are formed. Tissues are organized to form organs and organs form structures inside our body. Cells of different organisms also vary like plant cells and animal cells have various differences. Plant cells have cell wall and one large vacuole and animal cells have cell membrane as the outermost layer and have many small vacuoles. In addition, some organisms are singular cellular animals while some are multicellular organisms.
