Usually bank accounts can be garnished up to the amount of debt owed, which is different from wage garnishments which operate on a percentage method.  You can however file an objection with the court about this bank garn.  You must do so within a certain time frame.  A hearing will be set at which time you state why the garnishment should be released or at least come to a reasonable amount and possibly a payment arrangement with the creditor.  The hearing is held before the judge/magistrate and the creditor.
