    Vatican Palace is the residence of the pope since the late of 14th century. The palace is situated in the northern side of St. Peters Basilica of the city. The palace was first enclosed in the year of 850. The walled compound is contained with gardens, courtyards, living quarters, galleries, the Vatican museum as well as the Vatican library and the other faculties. The palace has more than 1,400 rooms in it. The palace was begun to use in the 13th century by Pope Nicholas III. After him Nicholas V established the library of the city.

    The Sistine Chapel was founded under Julius II. It is also contained with the art of Michelangelo, Bramante and Raphael's master pieces. In the time of Pope Paul III, Sangallo younger designed the royal hall and the Pauline chapel. Later it was also contained with spectacular interior arts by Michelangelo. Several chapels and the gallery of maps and date were formed in the 16th century.  

    Under Sixtus V, a wing of apartments and the present library buildings were constructed by Domenico Fontana. Matilda Chapel was built in the Baroque period by Urban VIII. Later Vatican Palace was expanded by Royal Stairway in the time of Alexander VII. Vatican Palace is an important creation in aspect of moving art and culture.
