Using chopsticks depends upon the culture and can actually vary from person to person. For instance, in Japan, it is considered impolite if you hold your chopsticks with five fingers. Some basic guidelines would include holding your upper chopstick by using your index finger, thumb and middle finger. You will need to position the other chopstick just between the base of your thumb and the top end of your ring finger. Practice moving only the upper chopstick in order to pick up food.
Do not use them to point at either someone or something or wave your chopsticks, as this is considered rude.
