    When an acid and base react, a neutralization reaction occurs. A neutralization reaction produces a salt and water.

    Let's look at some neutralization reactions:

    HCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) ------> NaCl (aq) + H2O (l)

    H2SO4 (aq) + 2NaOH (aq) ------> Na2SO4 + 2H2O (l)

    HCl (aq) + NH4OH (aq) ------> NH4Cl (l) + H2O (l)
