Yes, unfortunately feline leukemia is contagious to other cats. Feline leukemia is caused by feline leukemia virus (FeLV) which is a retrovirus. FeLV does not survive long enough outside the cat's body but still it is very contagious. I have to say that there is a chance of your kitten getting infected by feline leukemia. There are a lot of ways that this disease can be spread to other cats. It can be transferred from an infected mother to its kittens before birth or after birth when feeding. It can be transferred from cat to cat by the contact of bite wounds, mutual grooming and urine, feces, milk of the infected cat. It can also pass by the sharing of litter boxes and dishes used for feeding but the chances of that to happen are rare.
