EGR stands for Exhaust gas Recirculation, which is part of an engine pollution control.
Most often, an EGR code is set on a Ford computer because of a vacuum leak.
Since there is vacuum to the front differential, which is what engages the four wheel drive, it might be beneficial to check the vacuum (rubber hose), first before replacing the EGR valve.
The EGR valve is located at the rear of the intake, on the passenger side.
