Using visual basic you can design and implement application for windows operating systems only. But if you want to develop applications which interacts with a cad software you will have to go beyond visual basic and study a bit about "programming for engineers and scientists" just copy paste the commented quote in a search engine and you will have resources to learn about the interaction between visual basic and cad software. The microsoft office visio is also a good solution for this. Learn this programming technique and do something good for the mankind. All The Best.
