Love answering this one as I have extra long hair.  First, eat a decent diet, and supplement it with B vitiamins.  Mulit-B's are the best, panthenol and biotin are important ingredients in the multi.  Next. Stay the heck away from the beauty shop.  I've run across more that want to cut than don't, I must be extra careful when having a biannual trim.  Use a variety of shampoos and conditioners.  I've heard my bathroom called the shampoo aisle.  If you watch, you can catch salon brand liters of shampoo and conditioners at about $20-$24 on sale, which is a heck of a lot cheaper than $4 for 12 oz. For the usual brands.  Use them and rotate them.  Use the formula that is best for your type of hair, thin, thick, curly, etc.  Use the conditioner to ease with combing after washing as not to break the hair.  I don't use a blow dryer or a curling iron, but am not opposed to it, I just have fine hair that dries fast.  I let it fly straight or put it back when cooking or working outdoors.  Last fall, I had a lot of grief (which is a reason some folks cut their hair) and I cut a foot off.  Not one family member, spouse included, noticed, only one person I knew mentioned it, much to my surprise.  It needed a tuneup and now it is healthier and almost as long as it was before the cut.  Next time, it's just the usual inch.  Growing your hair long is also considered a sign of patience.  Be sure to take the Multi B with food, as the vitamins need something to cling to to aid absorbtion.  This won't happen overnight, but in a few months, you'll be quite surprised.  This works well on any ethnicity of hair, as friends of different races have had success with this practice.

Well depending on the type of hair you have, using different shampoo's will help......hahah! That just reminded  me don't put NARE in your shampoo, if you do you won't have any hair...been there done that...well not really but whatever, so about your hair, if you die it, that could be a reason or if your hair is fried, if you get a trim that will give you a "Fresh" start so i recomend that!

From a quick engine search, two choices appear legit. Warm climate and washing hair without chemicals- splits ends occur with too much treatment. Grow away.

Hair grows at a rate of half an inch a month so if your wanting really long hair this is going to take patience in the mean time wash it every other day use a good shampoo and conditioner and have a train every twice a year
