How Should I Paint A Cathedral Ceiling?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You can consider painting the cathedral ceiling with the same colour as that of the wall or a couple of shades darker than the wall. This can make the walls look higher. A cathedral is an architectural masterpiece. If you want to highlight the ceiling, then you can paint the ceiling with bright colour. However a brightly painted ceiling can be quite distracting. It is advisable to paint the ceiling in the colour which is not brighter than the walls. Remember to balance the colour that you put in the ceiling with the other elements in the room.

Ideally you can paint the ceiling space less brightly than the rest of the room and use wallpaper borders, picture mouldings etc on the walls to sustain interest in the lower areas of the room.
