Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The headquarters of the International Monetary Fund, which is commonly abbreviated as the IMF, are located in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States of America. It is an international organisation established with the objective of overseeing the functions of the international financial system. It observes the fluctuations in the rate of foreign exchange. Most of the world currencies are pegged to the American dollar.

The foreign exchange rate is basically defined as the rate at which one unit of currency of one country can be bought and sold in terms of one unit of currency of another country. It also oversees the fluctuations in the balance of payments of every country and takes immediate remedial action to correct the position of balance of payments if it is unfavourable in any particular country. The International Monetary Fund also offers financial aid and technical assistance, especially to the developing and underdeveloped countries of the world.
