How Do You Set Up A Wireless Router?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Firstly, you need to identify where your cable or DSL modem is and unplug it. After that, connect your wireless router to the modem, it should be directly connected to the internet. After connecting it up, your computer will connect wirelessly to your computer, and the router will facilitate communication to then internet by means of the modem.

If you have a computer connected directly to the computer, then you should unplug the network cable from behind and plug it into the port named Internet or WAN.

If you don't have a computer connected to the internet presently, what you need to do is plug one end of the network cable plus the router, into the modem, and insert the other end into the port called as Internet or WAN on the wireless router.

To set up a wireless router, you need to connect the router to a personal computer (which is abbreviated as PC) and configure the router with the necessary settings for the Internet and then you have to plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port of the user's personal computer.

The next step is to plug the other end into a LAN (local area network) port on the router. The local area network port network can be numbered or colour-coded in a special way. In a majority of the cases, the router will mechanically give your laptop computer the details which it needs for the two devices to communicate.

You can access the configuration tool of your router by find the default IP address of your router which has been given in the manual that came with the product when you bought it. This is typed into the address bar of your World Wide Web (which is abbreviated as WWW) browser.
