What Does Louvre Mean?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Louvre or "louver" is a frame like structure with horizontal or parallel slats to enhance ventilation by admitting light and air. The slats are made of materials like glass, wood or any such material equipped to regulate the flow of light and air while keeping undesirable elements like rain and heat of the sun at bay.

A louvre as a design can be either fixed or movable. A louvre can also be seen in the face of a lantern-like structure atop some old medieval buildings to control the flow of smog. With advancement in technology and better ways of building homes and offices with efficient materials, some of the louvers are automated as a cost-cutting measure while at the same time, making for a comfortable ambience.
