Well, every nation has had its own version of Progressive Movements and the cause of each varied. You have not mentioned which progressive movement you are interested in. If its about the American progressive movement, then it was a movement in the 19th century for the finding the cure for the ills of American Society which was highly developed due to the industrial revolution. In this movement the aim was to remove corruption and influence from government institutions, the inclusion of masses in the political process, and enhancement of the role of government to solve social problems. Efforts were made not only on individual level but also on governmental level for accomplishment of these aims.
