No, "The Eye" is a remake of a Japanest movie. The Japanese movie and "The Eyes of Laura Mars" may *both* be considered to be variations on *many* earlier similar movies and fictional writings dealing with transplanting body parts. I'd cite "The Eye" and "The Eyes of Laura Mars" as collateral evolution rather than as lineal descent.
