Why Is The Lion Said To Be King Of The Beasts?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The lion is the largest member of the fierce cat family, so it has no natural enemies and is afraid of no other animal. Even humans are no match for a lion, unless they have weapons.

The lion is on of the largest meat eating hunters in the world and is one of the most bloodthirsty. However, it kills only to eat, rather than out of aggression. A lion can weigh up to 225 kg and can measure almost 4 metres from the nose to the tip of its tail.

In historical times, lions lived in Europe, in the Balkans and in North Africa but hunting and depletion of their habitat has reduced the number of lions in the world significantly. There are now only a few in Africa, south of the Sahara and in India.

Lions are sociable animals, living in groups called prides. Usually there is one dominant male and two females and their cubs, although family groups can also associate with others to form a larger pride.
