        Michael Owen is a well known English football player currently playing for Newcastle United. He has also played for various other clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid. He plays in the position of a striker and was selected as the European Footballer of the Year in 2001.

        At the young age of twelve Owen joined the neighbouring school, Hawarden High. He had talks with the youth team section of clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, but in the end signed up for Liverpool, and it was from here that he was sent to the FA's School of Excellence at Lilleshall in Shropshire at the young age of fourteen.
