Although LCD is a modern wonder of technology, its roots had been laid way back in the year 1904 when Otto Lehmann a German physicist published his works titled "Liquid Crystals". In the year 1911 Charles Mauguin described the properties and structures of the Liquid Crystals.

In the year 2005 a developer by the name of Mary Lou Jepsen made an LCD display.  Currently the biggest manufacturers of LCD TV's are; Sony, Samsung, Phillips, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG and Onida.
