What Is The Difference Between Opinion And Inference?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Opinion is a personal belief or attitude about something that is generally not based on facts or any underlying proof. An opinion can be an idea or thought that can not be quantified and are abstract. We can say that it an evaluation or judgment of a situation but it is not based on facts. On the other hand, an inference refers to drawing a conclusion based on evidence and facts; it is not a gut feeling. It is always backed from the given information and is drawn after the evaluation of the facts. We can say that when we express an opinion without having any knowledge or information than it is merely an opinion but when we say something based on evidence and data than we are drawing an inference.
