In Dravidian language context, Tamil, curry is expressed as that which is served in sauce or gravy. Spices commonly used such as turmeric, cumin, coriander, fenugreek, and red pepper have also come to mean curry. Most will agree though, that it is a combination of the two that are synonymous with curry.
