Which Is The Fastest Railway On The Planet?
Answers
The fastest train in the world is the Maglev which is the abbreviation of magnetic levitation; these trains which are currently gliding in Japan and Shanghai, China are powered by magnets which levitate the train (about 10 mm) above specially built tracks known as guideways. These trains are known to glide at speeds of 550 km/h (342 mph) with a highest speed of about 585 km/h (about 362 mph); the technology was first developed in Germany and the German company Transrapid is currently building these trains in Shanghai.
Among conventional trains the TGV of France whose technology is based on an advanced electric traction system is the fastest with a high speed of 515 km/h (320 mph). The TGV technology of high speed trains is used by many countries and the SNCF the national organization that operates the network of high speed trains in France is one of the best in the world. Other famous high speed trains include the Shinkansen of Japan one of the first of the high speed trains. In the UK it is the famous Eurostar which is at present the fastest train though there are several new proposals to develop a faster technology in the offing.
