To prevent bruising through your diet, eat lots of iron rich food to make sure that you are getting your daily iron requirements. High levels of iron can be found in red meats, poultry, and green leafy vegetables. Make sure also that your vitamin C absorption is high, as iron can only be absorbed properly if vitamin C levels are maintained. You can get the amount required through fruit juices and citrus fruits.
Pineapple is a good choice of food as it contains Bromelain which helps to disperse blood clots and reduce the effects of bruising. Arnica gel is an inexpensive natural remedy which can be applied to help reduce both the pain and appearance. It is fast and effective, working on the swelling, discolouration and soreness of bruising. Please note, however, that although unexplained bruises are common, excessive bruising can be linked to liver problems and so if you are worried, visit your general practitioner for medical advice.
