How Do You Put A Screen On A Porch?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Before installing the screened porch, you have to remove the old strips of lattice and screening, hammer the staples and finish nails flush with the surface and cut the tracks to the required length (this can be done with the help of pruning shears). There is no need to do it with precision or miter the corners.

The channels must be screwed or nailed over the wood framing of the porch and the surfaces must be cleaned or repainted if necessary. Then, starting at the top, the screen and the spline are held taut in one hand and the spline is rolled into the track with the other. The spline should be installed in the two sides, followed by the mid-rail.

The excess screen should be trimmed off using a roller knife or a utility knife. The trim cap should be tapped into place using a rubber mallet, but care should be taken not to slide the cap. The trim caps should be cut in place using pruning shears.
