In What Ways Are Doctors More Important In The Society Than The Teachers?

Answer Question

Doctors are educated in the art of healing.  Teachers teach the doctors the art of healing.  Doctors can not exist without teachers.  Teachers can teach subjects other than than those in the medical field.  Doctors make much, much more money than the teacher even though they could not exist without having first been involved with many teachers.  Teachers are the key to all professions yet they fail to get the recognition or salary they deserve.  And no, I am not a teacher.  I'm just someone that appreciate them.

I believe the reason society as a whole appreciate doctors more than teachers is that once removed from school, the individual rarely interacts with a teacher and is certainly not dependant on one (as can be the case with a physician).  The doctor, on the other hand, is the one a person looks to when his health becomes an issue.  A doctor is a trusted professional that can cure an illness or help lessen a fear.  In general, in the minds of someone that left school some time ago, a teacher is one of authority and one who makes demands on personal time.  Not someone who is loved and appreciated as are family doctors.  Therefore it is a matter of perception, I think.
