Well Linux offers amazing Security control. You have simple commands that you can use on terminal to lock, hide, password protect, encrypt, manage users, groups and much much more.
you can even enter in to administrative mode or rather i shall say ROOT or Super user from within the Terminal. You can execute any commands from terminal using sudo or su command, the user can execute super user commands. No need to log off and log in to the system.
you also have chown, chgrp commands which will change file and group level permissions.
This is just a beginning, I highly recommend you to try all sorts of commands and check for yourself How linux rocks!
Hope it helps!

Linux provides good protection and security for important data. For Business enterprises and workspaces the Kaspersky Open Space Security Products are available which are designed with the purpose of providing security especially for the dynamic networks and mobile workforce.
Files and folders can also be easily protected in Linux by performing a series of simple steps. All you have to do is to make a make a new folder with any name and then make a .txt file in it that folder. In this file you have to copy a code if you want to make the folder password protected and private. The code and some other instructions that need to be followed are given here. Files and folders can also be protected using different applications but this process is quite simple.
