The Sky is Falling is a fiction novel that was written by the late Sidney Sheldon in the year 2001. The novel features a character from an earlier book by Sidney Sheldon; namely, the anchorwoman Dana Evans from "The Best Laid Plans". The story focuses on the investigations Dana Evans carries out into the supposedly accidental and consecutive deaths of all the members of one of the wealthiest families in the World; the Winthrop family.

One of the members of the family Dana interviews dies of gunshot wounds soon after she interviews him during a burglary. Even third parties end up dead. At the same time we are made to follow the story of a boy that Dana has brought back with her and is studying in America. The boy is bullied in school and gets thrown out for retaliating.
