There is basically no difference. Episcopal churches traditionally trace their leadership in succession from the Apostle Peter by direct commissioning from one leader to the next all the way down the line. The Catholic and the Anglican churches are both Episcopal. I believe also that the Greek Orthodox church may be also, though their succession may trace from the apostle John. The tracing of the leadership down from the Apostle Peter (or possibly John in the case of the Greek Orthodox) is the basic meaning of episcopal. The Catholics, Anglicans and Orthodox do have differences in secondary matters doctrine and practice.

For me, that Episcopal church was like elementary school. I experienced the Love of God; I learned the sacraments, particularly confession. I served at the altar; set up, I know the difference between a corporal and a purificator.... I carried communion to the sick.... THEN, when I discovered Eternal Word Television Network; I discovered the difference. In the Episcopal Church you can worship beside another member. I believed in the Real Presence; the one beside me could approve of gay marriage. That was especially pronounced by the election of a female bishop! Episcopalians are generally dignified and polite. They don't often argue. But there's not the unity. One priest may hear confessions; another will not. I am was SO HAPPY to exchange (in the three-Legged stool) REASON for MAGISTERIUM

Catholic priest is a man only and can't marry, episcopal priest can be either man or woman and married, no confession in episcopal except to god, no pope, only bishops and cardinals. No worship of false idols like saints in Episcopal but have in Catholic to include the Virgin Marry

The Episcopal church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. It has a general confession as part of the service. Private Confession is available and it is known as the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It has no cardinals, only Archbishops, Bishoips, Priests and Deacons. A statue of the Virgin Mary will very rarely appear in an Episcopal church.
