What Was The State Of Affairs In The US Congress Over The Matter Of US Funding In The Iraq War?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The President of the United States George W. Bush finally won a dragging war that was going between the dominant Democrat power in the US Congress and him regarding the prospect of further funding the Iraq war.  Although the Democrats abandoned their attempts to persuade Bush to withdraw American troops from Iraq, they gave definite promises to fight for the prospect with the new legislation.  It was on the 1st of May that Bush had vetoed the first version of Congress' year's emergency war funds bill, which devised a date of October 1st 2007 for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.  The cold war between the Republican president and the Democratic legislators had been going on since a long time specifically regarding the issue of the war in Iraq, nevertheless it was the Executive body that won over the Legislative body.  All in all this would be a huge setback to the Democratic party who hold a dominant role in the US Congress, nonetheless it does not seem that they won't fight back to get their demands met.
