I Had A Brown Or Maybe Tan Colored Snake That Was Black With White Stripes On The Outer Sides Of The Black. By My Car It Tried To Bite Me. What Is It?
I live in new york in Holmes dutchess county. I'm on the side of a mountain and there is swamp water in front. We have lots of rock walls by my house. Please help me figure out what type of snake this is.

Hmm, without a picture it is tough to say for sure what type of snake it was that you actually saw. Based on your area I would guess it could have been an Eastern Garter Snake. Try googling this breed and see if it resembles what you saw next to your car. Also Google the Eastern Ribbon Snake and the Eastern Milk Snake as possibilities. Hope this helps.
