Who Owns The Beano?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Beano is one of the oldest comic book publications in the UK along with The Dandy; the first issue of the comic is dated July 30, 1938 a copy of which was sold for 12,100 pounds at an auction in 2004. The Beano is owned by D. C. Thomson & Co Ltd a publishing house based in Dundee, Scotland; the company also publishes the Dandy which has led to a number of crossovers taking place between the two comics.

The present editor of The Beano is Alan Digby who took over from long time editor Euan Kerr in 2006. Some of the famous strips that have occupied the pages of the magazine and continue to do so are Dennis and Gnasher, formerly known as Dennis the Menace and the longest running strip first appearing in 1951, the Bash Street Kids, Minnie the Minx, Lord Snooty, which ceased appearing since 1990 and Roger the Dodgers among others; the characters appearing in the strip live in Beanotown a fictional town located someplace in the UK.
