The Supreme court has the power to check the actions of the President and the Congress. The court can tell a President that his actions are not allowed in the country. It can also tell the Congress that it's law has violated the constitution. It can tell the government that one of the laws break the rule of constitution.
The Supreme Court is the final judge in all cases which involve laws of congress and the Constitution.However its powers are limited by the president who nominates the judges and by the senate who votes its approval of nominations.
