Putting The Dinosaur Theory Aside For A Moment, What Species Do You Think The Loch Ness Monster Could Actually Be?

Evidence suggests that there is indeed a large aquatic animal living in Loch Ness. What do you think it is?

I've read a few theories on the Loch Ness monster and seen a few documentaries and the only theory which convinces me enough is that it is a breed or unknown species of the long-knecked seal family. I'm only partially convinced on the actual truth of the existence of the Loch Ness myself, but if it is there, that would be the theory most likely to me.

This is an interesting question.  While my original answer was not intended to dismiss or delegitimize your question, you might do well to consider a couple of other answers here.   You asked and received a number of theories here; and with all due respect, you asked peoples' thoughts only to write a caustic answer re the elephant theory (which seems legitimate in its own right). Did you or did you not care to consider the various thoughts and opinions you have asked for?  Seems the elephant response is a legitimate guess.  Good luck solving the mystery and you might want to keep an open mind.

Of course...but there's no need to worry about that. My mind is further open than a 5 meter sluicegate. I have no problem accepting things like the elephant theory...it, although highly unlikely, is better than responses like:

"I didn't use to believe much till I saw him spit out a Toyota Truck now I think he might be real because I don't like Toyota Truck either!"

          or:

"It's a mammalian, the missing link between monkey and man. How the f* would I know? Paging Dr. Leakey!"

It's unproductive comments/ jokes like these that I have an issue with...not the unproductive ones with good intentions. People who post things like the above are part of the reason this mystery is not taken seriously...or may never be solved at all.

This is a legitimate zoological question and certainly nothing to do with elephants...nor is it a chance to post attempted humor. Besides...all the people who claim to have seen this creature were all fairly credible witnesses. If you have no productive input to offer...don't bother answering!

Certainly no disrespect of your question or its legitimacy was intended.
