Albuquerque is famous for much more than the Fergal Sharkey's hit track in the 1980's. It's the largest in the state of New Mexico. The city was founded way back in 1706 by the Spanish making this of cultural significance.
Number 1 - Aquarium and Rio Grande Botanic Garden
There's nothing quite like a good aquarium and this is a fine one indeed which also has botanic garden on the side for good measure. The gardens are truly staggering and it covers 36 acres. The gardens also include a 10K square glass conservatory which home to exotic plants and butterflies. The aquarium has a wide range of fish and also has underwater viewing tunnel. Don't forget your camera on this one!

If you've always been fascinated by the stars in the sky at night then the Astronomy center will fulfil your dreams. The Center has a planetarium, an observatory and lots of interesting exhibits.
Number 3 - Historic Old Town Shopping
Everyone loves shopping well almost everyone. Why not shop in the historic surroundings of the Old Town. There's over 130 shops ranging from galleries to restaurants and much more.

You can explore science the interactive way at the Explora Science Center. You'll be amazed how much you learn and discover.
Number 5 - Petroglyph National Monument
This popular monument is well worth a look in. This monument has been carved out of lava… yes lava! A total of 17 thousand Petroglyths (that artwork to you and me) has been chipped into the lava over a long time. It's open daily and it's cheap to get in to see it.
