The conflict between the United States and Tripoli, which was started in the year of 1801, was famous by the name of Tripolitan war. The United States used to pay tribute to the rulers of the Barbary Coast states. The tribute which was to be paid was for the protection from pirate attacks from the Mediterranean. When they refused to pay the same, the Pasha of Tripoli asked for a high amount of tribute and after that he declared war against the United States, in the year of 1801.

The United States sent a naval squad to Tripoli . The naval squadron of the United States fought several clashes. In those sea clashes, Stephen Decatur did a good job.

After that they made a blockade over Tripolian base, and some overland missions from Egypt ended the war by 1805. The War was ended up with harmony, and a treaty beneficial to the United States.
