What Is The Difference Between Cable Reels And Cable Drums?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Cable reels are used to store, wind and unwind conductive cable or lifting cable. During the process of winding, electric cable reels maintain live power by using their contacts. Reels are devices around which cable, wires, paper and other materials are wound for the purpose of transportation and storage.

There are five types of configurations in which cable reels come. These five configurations are collapsible cable reels, portable cable reels, live connection cable reels, reel and cable assembly cable reels and storage reel cable reels. Cable reels are typically made of such materials as wood, steel, stainless steel and plastic.

Cable drums, on the other hand, have steel flanges. The hub of a cable drum is made of polycarbonate. The cable drums are fitted to a cantilever spindle. This leaves one side clear to allow the fitting of connectors within the diameter of the hub. The two large cable drums are connected to a plastic plate. The smaller cable drum, on the other hand, uses the flange itself. All the three drums have one friction brake and one integral winding handle each.
