Have You Ever Rode The Subway, Especially In New York City?
What was your experience like? Do you have to ride them often or daily? I rode a couple in NYC and really felt a little spooked. The subway stations smelled like human waste, and many of the people just stared at me like I was from Mars! I would only ride in the daylight and never after dark!

I lived in long island for a few years and only ventured into the city a couple of times. Manhattan is a great place to visit. What spooked me about the subway was how fast it took off(i wasn't hanging on). It was in the daytime, i don't know if i would ride at night. I was surprised at how clean it was down by Broadway and times square.

Yes I agree the cleaniliness of the subway depended on what part of NYC you were in. We took the subway to the Bronx Zoo and it was really scary in the Bronx, manhattan was much more my style!
the bronx is a scary place, that's for sure. i did enjoy little Italy and china town though, talk about culture clash.
I live in NYC and I use it all the time ..I love it it is so convenient, it works 24 hours a day and for the cost it can't be beat..people will sometimes complain about it but if the subways were to stop it would cripple this city.

I agree. NYC is a fabulous city. I visited there in 1990. Loved it!
I guess you get used to the subways. But I'll tell you, the taxi drivers were scarier! :D

Nice to hear you enjoyed it ..But in the Bronx defense..around the year 2000 it was rated 4th most improved city in the country(although its a borough)..tenements have been replaced by town houses and shopping plazas..It is so much nicer than it was a while back..thec area around Yankees stadium is also getting a huge makeover with a new Metro North station and lots of shopping and restaurants
