Can I Glaze A Pottery Tea Pot?
I bought a pottery tea pot and was told that I can actually use it as a tea pot, only to find out that it is not glazed and the tea sips through and leaks, can I glaze it? Or I just have to use it as an ornament.

Many teapots are not glazed, but are made with a special kind of clay that not only will not leak, but will absorb the flavors of the tea, through many brewing sessions, and eventually will make good tea when only hot water is added. These are highly prized by tea connoisseurs. Your teapot, as you suspect, was probably made for decorative purposes and not suitable for making tea.
Theoretically, you can glaze the pot to make it waterproof. But unless you are knowledgeable and know what you have, you are well advised not to try. You'll have to buy compatible lead-free clear glaze from a hobby shop, apply it evenly and get the use of a kiln and set the proper firing temperature. All of that will cost you money and time; and you still run the risk of ruining the piece anyway. It's simply much cheaper just to buy another one designed for brewing tea.

You can put a clear glaze on it, that is if it already has a design on it. Or if there is no design, you can add the colors then put the clear coat over the top. Once you put the glaze on, you will need to find someone with a kiln so you can fire it (heat it) to bake the glaze on.
