Your headphones is working fine that means there is no problem with your computer or laptop.
It may be the problem with your speakers, try to change it and then check.

I have the same problem, i have 'creative 280c 2.0' speakers and they have a headphone jack on the side of them, both have been working fine, till this morning i realised that the speakers don't work but the headphones do, even though there plugged into the speakers! Please help!!
