The double-decker bus is a huge bus designed for the purpose of carrying large number of people from one destination to the other.
The bus is used in different countries; however it was London where it is most operated. It is the most popular modes of transportation there apart from serving the purpose of tourist sight seeing. It accommodates between seventy to eighty people and is quite huge.
In the late 1950s, the bus started operating in Sri Lanka, which was all imported from the UK. However, in the late 1970s the use of these buses reduced from previous times.
In 1949, the double-decker bus started functioning in Hong Kong, China. Looking at the population for China, these buses have been of great use, since large number of people travel in them and are really popular through out. There are more than 3500 double-decker buses operating in China.
In 1977, the first double-decker bus service was introduced which became quite popular and soon air-conditioned buses were introduced and later buses which had the access to load disabled people with wheel chairs.
Other countries include Japan, Canada, Germany, United States, India, New Zealand and Malaysia.
