It sounds like you have bigger problems than just a slow hard drive. I would recommend downloading anti virus and anti-spyware software first of all. Perfectly good free programs are available, such as AVG or AdAware. You should then run these programs and let them do a full scan of your computer.

Afterwards use some of Windows' built-in tools like Scandisk and Disk Defragmenter to check your hard disks for errors and to defragment them. Defragmenting a hard disk can speed it up massively. It can sometimes feel just like it did when you just bought it.

It's possible that the hard disk has become deeply corrupted at the hardware level, in which case your only solution is to buy a new PC.
