In 'The Magician's Nephew', the very first book of the Narnian Chronicles, it states that Digory Kirke planted an magic apple core from Narnia in his garden. When a storm blew the tree over, he didn't want to use the wood for the fire, so instead he built a wardrobe from it. He was then Professor Kirke, with his own estate in the country.
