What Is The Women's Role In Islam?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Depends on exactly what kind of role you are talking about.

Women are not supposed to be clerics, but they CAN go about participating in Islam Da'wah (preaching), albeit indoors. The role of women in Islam is mostly confined indoors. They are not supposed to go outside without any concrete reasons (I wonder if going to the mall is a concrete reason or not), and if they do go outside of their houses, they are required to maintain decorum.

Contrary to what common conceptions hold, Muslim women ARE allowed to give and take education, hold jobs, take part in social services etc. But roles inside the house is recommended for them.

What are the roles of Muslim women inside the house? Caring for the children, cooking, taking care of the house, serving the husband and so on. Being the breadwinner, men are given ''slightly'' (it says slightly, but that's not the impression we get judging by the rights Muslim men have over women, including the right to beat their wives) more authority over the family and all its matters.

For further information, I suggest you take a look at this article: en.wikipedia.org its a very thorough article, its neutrality is disputed, so please cross-check)
