    A Passport is one of the most important traveling documents to be issued by a national government, it usually identifies the passport bearer as a legal resident of the issuing state and it also requests that the person in possession of a legal passport be allowed to or permitted to pass through or enter other countries. Passports are mainly connected with the legal right of protection abroad; it also protects the individual rights of an individual to enter his own country of Nationality.

    A passport has to contain the signature, date of birth, nationality and photograph of the passport holder.  Sometimes passport also require other means of Individual Identification.  Many of the countries are in the process of issuing biometric passports, thus making sure that the passport bearer is the legitimate holder.
