Yes and no. Directly? Not exactly, however the German participation of WWII (and the formation of the Nazi party) stemmed from the aftermath of WWI. Germans living after WWI held a deep seeded grudge due to the sanctions placed upon them by the victorious allies (read: War reparations). This not only caused emotional scaring on a societal level, but also on an economic level. The time between World Wars 1 and 2 was a very bad era for Germany in terms of economic growth, and they felt that this was due to the monetary punishments doled out to them by the likes of the British, French, and US. The Nazi party and also Hitler used this poverty and anger to gain a foothold among the mainstream German population. This later progressed into the quickest economic turn around for any country in history. It also led to the scapegoating of minorities and the aryan mythology associated with WWII era Germany as well as the holocaust it self.
